Drug dealer gets five-year sentence

KINGMAN – A Lake Havasu City drug dealer was sentenced to a five-year prison term Wednesday. The punishment Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle imposed for Chad Van Allen, 32, was mandated in a plea agreement.

Van Allen pleaded guilty to possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of narcotic drugs for sale and manufacturing dangerous drugs.

Van Allen possessed about 28 grams of methamphetamine when arrested at his place of employment last December, according to Lake Havasu City police. Prosecutor Amanda Claerhout said he also possessed a usable amount of heroin and 16 grams each of marijuana and marijuana wax.

Claerhout said a shotgun, a rifle and an assortment of drugs was confiscated from a home in which Van Allen lived on Catalina Drive. She said officers seized more than two grams of meth in the residence, marijuana wax, and marijuana products including vape pens.
