MOHAVE VALLEY — A Mohave Valley man charged for possessing child pornography will spend at least a decade behind bars under terms of a plea agreement entered April 13. Michael Mendez, 34, pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor and three counts reduced to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.

Six other sexual exploitation of a minor charges are dismissed in the deal.

Information regarding possession of Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM) led to a Nov., 2025 search of the defendant’s home in the 10000 block of Danny Street.

Deputy Mohave County attorney Phillip Delgado said digital files depicting sexual acts involving toddlers to pre-teen minors were located in the contents of a computer laptop belonging to Mendez. Delgado said Mendez admitted to investigators that he used software to download the CSAM.

The plea deal requires the Court to impose a 10-24-year prison term followed by lifetime probation for Mendez. Sentencing is scheduled May 14 before Judge Ryan Esplin.
