LAKE HAVASU CITY — Foot Lite School of Dance shared a very special performance over the weekend with the Lake Havasu community.  The dance studio’s Dance Party in the USA annual recital was an exciting performance that took place on Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1, at Lake Havasu High School.

Foot Lite School of Dance was founded by artistic director Lori Weaver. Originally from Massachusetts, Weaver launched the dance studio in Lake Havasu nearly thirty years ago and managed to obtain over a hundred and fifty students throughout the decades. Weaver’s musical roots began at age 2 where she practiced and studied a mixture of different genres like ballet, tap, and jazz.

The weekend show was a reflection of the director’s background, as the recital featured a combination of jazz, tap, lyrical, and acro dance. Towards the second half of the show was when the audience was enchanted with a very moving number.  With the performer’s onstage talents ranging from ages 3 to 20, fathers of the dancers took to the stage for a father and daughter dance. The theme song of the routine was Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman.

It was an unexpected twist for viewers with the upcoming Father’s Day holiday this month. Weaver was especially touched about the opportunity to witness this portion of the show.

“Being able to watch the daddy daughter dance was my favorite part of the show because I know it will create unforgettable memories for the students performing onstage.”  For the recital’s dance party in the USA theme, locals had previously submitted photos of relatives they have lost who actively served in the military during the onstage performances.

Stay tuned as Foot Lite School of Dance will have another exciting opportunity this weekend for young aspiring dancers.

Open auditions are scheduled to take place on Saturday June 7 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Foot Lite School of Dance.  Audition sign up forms can be accessed by visiting the website
