Mohave County College is closing its four campuses to the public and students to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus COVID-19 in our communities.
“Since we now have confirmed cases of the virus in our immediate communities, and health officials expect the number of patients to climb, we feel this action is in the best interest of our students, employees and the public at this time,” said MCC President Dr. Stacy Klippenstein. “We will eliminate all in-person contact to the best of our ability, while continuing with classes and college operations online and in virtual environment so our students can meet their educational goals.”
College faculty and employees this week have been transitioning to online and virtual forms of instruction and student services in preparation for classes to resume on Monday, March 30. Courses that cannot be transitioned, such as labs and hands-on training, will be cancelled.
All student services such as advising, tutoring and financial aid will be handled by phone and online. The college Call Center is fully staffed and representatives can be reached by calling 1-866-MOHAVECC or 1-866-664-2832. You can also chat online with college representatives via the website www.Mohave.edu.
Student services employees, faculty and instructional staff will be reaching out to students to provide support and follow-up regarding these changes. Students should also contact their instructors and/or advisors if they have questions or concerns.
“We are prepared to quickly respond to the rapidly changing reports and developments concerning the virus, and we are closely monitoring the situation, so if there are more changes needed our students, employees and the community will be notified as quickly as possible,” said Dr. Klippenstein.
Some of the actions the college is taking to help prevent the spread of the virus include:
- All on-campus classes are being transitioned to online and other distance learning formats and will begin on March 30.
- CTE, Health Professions, Science labs and art studio activities that cannot transition to online or distance learning formats will be canceled. Arrangements will be made that allow students to complete at a later date. Students enrolled in the classes will be contacted over the next week to make arrangements. Students are encouraged to contact their instructor via email or phone if they do not hear from the college by Monday.
- All college buildings are closed to the public.
- Students and community members who need to meet with an instructor, advisor, or administrator will do so by requesting an appointment via phone or email to establish a possible virtual meeting.
- Most college employees will telecommute unless their position cannot be transitioned to telecommuting, in which case they will work on campus and observe social distancing and health safety protocols.
- Continue the suspension of college and public events and college travel until further notice.
· Commencement scheduled for May 15 has been postponed. More information will be made available as soon as possible.

Please remember that most people who get COVID-19 have very mild or no symptoms and most recover on their own. Those at higher risk are older adults and people with chronic medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and lung disease.
The college continues to encourage everyone to follow the virus prevention and safety guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control.
