BULLHEAD CITY – A classic car show is set for Saturday, March 22, and will be held at Joshua Springs Senior Living, 2995 Desert Sky Blvd.
Tommy Pesek, maintenance director for Joshua Springs, is one of the organizers for the show, which hasn’t taken place for a few years and the event itself has been going on intermittently over the past dozen years.
Tabbed “Hot dogs and hot rods,” runs on donations and there will be raffles and food available at the event set to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“There will be raffles for everything with car-related gift baskets,” Pesek said. “Our primary reason for having this event is to raise money for Watermark for Kids, which is run through our corporate offices.
“We have our corporate that runs our retirement home and all the other ones across the US. I’m not sure how many we have 60 or 70 of them, but it’s a program for underprivileged kids.”
Watermark for Kids’ mission statement includes, “to empower, inspire, and uplift young minds to reach for the stars and achieve greatness.”
“The donations are for Watermark for Kids, but having the cars here and the food is bringing the community here and giving us some exposure to the community in case if they need to put a loved one in a retirement home,” Pesek said. “It’s a senior living facility community. We’re getting exposure with the community and everything, that way if they need to rent a room or get a room for mom or dad or an aunt or an uncle, we’ll be giving tours of our community to anybody who wants one that’s interested in possibly putting a loved one in our community.”
There is no car entry fee and the cars on display will be provided by local car clubs, and any purchased foods will be considered donations. A DJ will also be on site to spin some tunes.
“I’ve made arrangement with the car club and they’re gonna bring between 20 and 25 custom classic cars and there’s been a couple of residents who have asked (to enter) butI do have to keep the number down because the available parking spots in the front in the front lot,” Pesek said.
Pesek noted that Bullhead City Steve D’Amico will make an appearance.
“We’re going to do this more regularly,” Pesek said. “I want to thank our directors because we’re all working on this together.”
