We should not encourage nor indulge flawed thinking

Dear Editor, Maybe it is the water, or the lack of critical thinking on behalf of readers of The Standard, but I certainly have to wonder about Mr. Nelson’s claim of being a White Nationalist Christian, who says he has had an afterlife experience (see his letter in the Sept. 25 edition of The Standard). Perhaps someone can explain how a Christian can believe an entire race of dark skinned individuals are inferior, as White Nationalists do, and still claim to be Christian. This is not the first time I have seen this ideology reported in your newspaper. I believe…

There’s a new dog/cat in town!

Dear Editor, Snip and Tuck, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that raises the much-needed funds for spaying and neutering the pets of low-income veterans, low income seniors and anyone who otherwise can’t afford it. Why? After working with a local non-profit, I came to realize just how many dumped, abandoned, unwanted and abused dogs and cats there are that are filling our rescues and shelters. I felt that something really big needed to happen. Upon researching this problem to learn all I could, I found out that because of one unspayed cat, up to 120,000 kittens can be born…

The irony of ignorance is at state and a great risk to our country

Dear Editor, Has it ever occurred to many folks, that if not for ignorance run wild, the democraps would never be carrying on and doing the unthinkable things they’re doing related to perfectly good and required phone calls, etc. and the issues related to this scam of impeachment with the way they are handling it against President Trump? Look at it his way. The democraps realize the ignorance, indoctrination and stupidity of about 40-50% of the country knowing full well the vast majority of their supporters don’t have a clue and will fall for most anything. If not for the…

The afterlife

Dear Editor, Fifty-seven percent of late teenagers and millennials believe that socialism is the answer. That Medicare for all the green new deal, free college tuition, on and one, where does it end! This is for those of you who don’t believe that God exists, that religion isn’t relevant in our enlightened society. For many years my friends have urged me to write this. There is an afterlife, I’ve been there! I was a millennial once. When I was 22 I lived in Tigerd, Ore., my hometown. I’ve also lived in Eugene, Ore. I worked for a window washing company…

Growing young

Dear Editor, Where are all the young adults? I cannot help but notice the deteriorating number of young adults, age 18- to , in our community. Over the last two years, I have decided to spend some time finding out why they are leaving. Their responses have painted a grim image of hopelessness, as they have been unable to find their place in a town that seems set on growing old instead of growing young. Kingman is being robbed of the influence of these dynamic world-changers as they continue to vanish because they are simply being ignored. For nearly two…
