Bullhead, Kingman Fire team up to host Leadership Development Academy

MOHAVE COUNTY – In partnership with the Kingman Fire Department, the Bullhead City Fire Department is honored to host the Leadership Development Academy, which is currently in session. The specialized training classes began the week of January 20 -21 and continued through Jan. 29. A total of 30 participants from eight surrounding departments are in attendance, including members from Bullhead Fire and the Kingman Fire Department. Bomb threat at middle school brings one arrest

KINGMAN – Kingman police say they don’t know why a local man targeted the Middle School on Detroit Avenue with Monday morning bomb threats. An investigation of the threatening calls at 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. led to the arrest of Manuel Molines. No explosives or suspicious devices were located on the school grounds. The 39-year-old with an extensive local criminal history was jailed for making terroristic threats and interference with an educational facility. Officials said Molines does not have children enrolled in the Kingman Unified School District and investigators are trying to determine his motivation. Dave Hawkins

Federal legislation will enable Western Arizona tribes to lease water

PARKER – New federal legislation that will enable the Colorado River Indian Tribes to lease a portion of its federal water allocation is gaining broad support from Arizona stakeholders. Following the conclusion of a listening session held by the Arizona Department of Water Resources in December, 2020, interested parties were invited to submit public comment on the proposal. Supportive comments, including those written by CAWCD, SRP, Phoenix and numerous environmental organizations, outnumbered comments in opposition by a margin of 7:1. Lathrop takes plea in drug sale case

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A prison sentence is prescribed for a Lake Havasu City drug dealer who entered a plea agreement at the Mohave County courthouse in Kingman. Robert Lathrop, 59, Lake Havasu, pleaded guilty Friday to possession of dangerous drugs for sale and misconduct involving weapons. Prosecutor Jonathan Robinson said police officers executed a Dec. 1, 2020 stop of the vehicle Lathrop was driving in the 600 block of N.
