KINGMAN – The Kingman Cancer Care Unit (KCCU) received a donation from Angle Homes for $35,000 last Thursday afternoon, May 13.  “We’re happy to be able to support such a great local cause. No one here [at KCCU] is getting paid and they help out people at their most vulnerable time, when they are sick,” said Angle Home President Tyler Angle. KCCU has around 80 members and has been in operation for 46 years. In the last year, they have provided $111,000 in financial assistance and provided aid for 97 local cancer patients. GOLDEN VALLEY – A week-long water service outage has ended for roughly 40% of the customer base in the Mohave County operated Golden Valley Water Improvement District (GVID). The May 7 failure of one of two wells that supply the system resulted in loss of service for 500 of the District’s 1,200 customers. “County staff worked every calendar day with urgency to repair the damage,” a county issued news release stated. It said a replacement submersible motor was located in Phoenix on May 14 and rushed to Golden Valley for installation. A boil water advisory remained in effect as crews restored…

MOHAVE COUNTY – Decades of operation of the Mohave County Fairgrounds by the Fair Association is likely coming to an end. Member Travis Lingenfelter’s proposal to bring the fairgrounds under the management umbrella of the Parks Department was approved during Monday’s Mohave County board of supervisors meeting. “It’s time to fix the problem,” Lingenfelter said.
