ADOT prepares snowplows in advance of season’s winter weather

FLAGSTAFF – The Arizona Department of Transportation’s statewide fleet of snowplows is ready to roll wherever and whenever needed now that crews have completed the annual process of equipping the vehicles with what’s needed to clear snow and ice from state highways. Many of ADOT’s 200 snowplow vehicles are used for other important work, primarily as dump trucks, during our warmer weather. By late summer, crews begin to install the large plow blades and other equipment so those trucks are once again prepared as large, powerful snowplows. Lake Mead is to conduct a prescribed burn on November 6  

BOULDER CITY, Nev.– The National Park Service will conduct two prescribed burns near  Willow Beach, Arizona, on Monday, November 6. The first burn pile is approximately 1/4-mile  northeast of the employee housing, near Willow Beach Fish Hatchery. The second burn pile is  200 yards up the Jumbo Wash access road, south of Willow Beach Ranger Station. The roads  adjacent to the piles may experience short-term impacts, but closures are not expected.  This activity aims to eliminate hazardous combustible material generated and piled during the  annual cutting and thinning projects conducted in the area.
