The Lake Havasu City Police Department is conducting enhanced traffic and DUI enforcement during the Cinco de Mayo weekend, Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5. Funding for this effort is provided by a grant awarded by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. The National Train Day Celebration will be held at the Kingman Railroad Museum on 402 E. Andy Devine Ave. The celebration starts on Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is geared to inform the general public about railroad history, the importance of trains, and the role they have played in America. Kingman Middle School is very proud to have nine students and two alternates selected by audition for the 2019 Arizona Music Educators Association’s Northern Arizona Middle School Regional Honor Band. Held on February 23, in Prescott, auditions assessed the technical accuracy of over 400 sixth, seventh & eighth grade musicians through the performance of musical excerpts, memorized scales and sight reading. The honor music festival will feature the region’s most talented band, choir and orchestra middle/junior high school students on Saturday, May 4, at 4:15 p.m. at Page High School in Page, Arizona.

Patrol units and a helicopter engaged in Tuesday’s slow speed pursuit of a bulldozer that was stolen from a Mohave County Road Department gravel pit in Golden Valley. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said deputies responded at 3:15 a.m. to a report that a bulldozer was tearing up asphalt on roadways in the vicinity of Bacobi Road and Shipp Drive. A Bullhead City man who blew his chance for guaranteed probation will instead go to the Arizona Department of Corrections for six years. Jonathan Hegge, 37, was sentenced by Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle last Friday (Ap. 26). Hegge entered a unique plea agreement in February that provided incentive for him to kickstart restitution payments on the more than $67,000 in benefits he and his wife stole over a 22 month period from the Arizona Department of Economic Security.
