All City offices and Havasu Mobility are closed on Thursday, July 4, to celebrate the Independence Day holiday. However, the Aquatic Center is open from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for open swim. Police and Fire Department personnel are always on duty. Trash and recycling services are not affected by the holiday. All City offices resume normal schedules on Friday, July 5. While celebrating the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the country, Lake Havasu City encourages everyone to enjoy the holiday safely and responsibly!
Effective December 1, 2010, Arizona State law allows for the sale of permissible consumer fireworks. However, the use of any fireworks, other than novelty items, remains illegal within the Kingman City limits effective December 21, 2010. The new law allows for the sale of fireworks such as poppers, smokers and sparklers as well as ground based sparklers, spinners and fountains to be purchased. The City of Kingman does allow for the sale of these fireworks within the City of Kingman, but their use is illegal. A Lake Havasu City man who allegedly engaged in a mini crime wave in Mohave Valley faces an assortment of criminal charges. The Mohave County Sheriff’s office reports the Wednesday arrest of Richard Anderson, 21. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said deputies responded at 4:22 p.m. to a shoplifting report at a business in the 1000 block of Highway 95. The reporting party advised that a subject later identified as Anderson took merchandise without paying before he entered a neighboring business. Mortensen said Anderson grabbed a tip jar from the second business and that employees who tried to stop the theft feared…
Saving the dilapidated historic Hotel Beale in downtown Kingman is important to city officials. That much was clear during discussion at the June 18 Kingman city council meeting, but how to get the job done is less evident. Assistant Fire Chief Keith Eaton provided an overview of some of the history of the structure that was built in 1900 and became a playground for Andy Devine, the Kingman man who made a name for himself in the motion picture industry decades ago.
