KINGMAN – The Kingman Daily Miner, that has been published since 1882, will be changing its name to The Kingman Miner on Nov. 20. According to Miner officials, the print edition will be delivered only on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays instead of the six-day distribution cycle they previously had. The printed edition subscriber rates will decrease from $10.99 every four weeks to $8.80 and will allow printed subscribers full access, at no additional charge, to the Miner’s online version at kingmanminer.com. Suspicious north Kingman fire under investigation

KINGMAN – No one was injured in a residential structure in north Kingman Wednesday, Oct .16. Personnel from the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District responded at 3:00 a.m. to the incident in the 3100 block of Devlin Avenue. “First arriving fire personnel found smoke exiting the unoccupied single family residence,” assistant Fire Chief Keith Eaton said. He said the point of origin was located in the rear of the home and that crews mounted an offensive attack, preventing spread and bringing the fire under control. “Overhaul and salvage operations continued to confirm no spread of the fire,” Eaton said. Plea deal rejected; judge recuses self

KINGMAN – A Mohave County judge has rejected a plea agreement for a man who stole property from a man who gave him a place to stay, beat his wife in Dolan Springs and fired bullets at sheriff’s deputies. Judge Billy Sipe last Thursday said the plea deal mandating a 15.5-year prison sentence for Wendell Odom, 37 was too lenient. Investigation began in late March when Vaughan Hargrave reported that a firearm had been stolen when Odom left his property. Parents’ trials postponed in toddler death case

KINGMAN – Local judge Billy Sipe has begrudgingly granted continuances in the separate trials of Lake Havasu City parents who are charged in the death of their toddler. Judge Sipe expressed frustration that parties could not soon be ready when he set November 5 trials for Andrew Lamorie, 23, and Brittany Rodriquez, 26, back in January. The continuance motions, filed by Lamorie’s attorney Robin Puchek and Rodriquez legal defender Ron Gilleo, were based on contention of late disclosure by the state.
