Plea deal sentencing up in the air

KINGMAN – A judge has broad range of punishment discretion in the case of a Golden Valley man who has entered a plea agreement in a drug case. Daniel Davis, 70, pleaded guilty on June 16 to separate possession and attempted possession of dangerous drug charges. Deputy Mohave County attorney Morgan Carstensen said 7 grams of methamphetamine was confiscated from the defendant’s home on south Tonto Road in Golden Valley in March. The prosecutor told the Court that the seizure occurred after deputies conducted a “knock and talk” due to intelligence about suspected drug dealing activity at the residence. Carstensen…

KINGMAN – Thanks to generous donations from locally-owned businesses― Preston Investments and Peterson Burge Enterprises― along with individual donations from community members, Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) will conduct a local epidemiologic study of COVID-19 later this summer.  The study will involve several thousand community members who volunteer to participate in the effort. They will be given free antibody testing to determine if they previously had COVID-19. They will also be asked to complete a detailed questionnaire about their exposure history. Transient arrested following motel disturbance

KINGMAN – A transient was arrested after using a chair to try to strike the door of a motel room in the 2000 block of Andy Devine Avenue Monday. Police Chief Rusty Cooper said 25-year old Braxton Legg had caused previous disturbances at the same motel. Cooper said Legg apparently suffers from “behavioral challenges.” He said Legg was not acquainted with the woman and nine year-old girl inside the room he tried to enter. Arriving officers contacted Legg as he walked away from the property. Legg was found to be in possession of a usable amount of methamphetamine and booked…

The graduating class of 2020 includes students who graduated summer 2019, fall 2019 and spring 2020. Students in the Class of 2020 ranged in age from 18 to 69 and earned 9,280 degrees. MEC outage due to auto crash

BULLHEAD CITY – After a full day of work in summer temperatures reaching above 110 degrees, MEC crews responded to a vehicle contacting a pole incident. The call came from emergency dispatchers just after 2:30 p.m.; the vehicle erupted in fire, catching a utility pole and nearby brush on fire at the NW corner of Hwy 95 and Boundary Cone Road in Mohave Valley. For the safety of the responding fire crews MEC performed circuit switching to isolate the section of line in the incident area.
