NACFD issues burn ban

KINGMAN – The Mohave County Board of Supervisors has issued Stage 2 fire restrictions within the entire county. Based on this direction, the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District #1 is instituting a fire burn ban effective immediately. The ban includes the prohibition of the sale of consumer fireworks as addressed within the Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) 36-1606. The ban also rescinds any open burn permits issued by the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District #1 (NACFD#1) within the last 30 days. No burn permit applications will be accepted until further notice.

BLM announces recreational improvements at Burro Creek Campground

KINGMAN – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kingman Field Office will begin a four-month restroom renovation project at Burro Creek Campground on June 6, improving facilities that have been in operation since 1991. The project, which is expected to run through October, will update plumbing, including water, septic and vent lines; and will replace most interior fixtures, such as toilets, stall partitions, sinks, water fountains, access doors and vanity mirrors. External improvements will include replacing the roof and installing solar panels for downward shielded lights, which will enhance nighttime safety. City Recreation Coordinator Ryan Fruhwirth said KSA plans to reduce the number of teams but hopes to provide the same number of games in a season that won’t start until late June or early July. Managers can register their teams from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 30 at the Centennial Park crow’s nest where the four main fields are situated, closer to the library.
