KINGMAN – An alleged pill pusher from California faces a possible prison sentence for a Bullhead City drug bust. Hogan Marshall, Palm Desert, 29, pleaded guilty to possession of dangerous drugs for sale during an Oct. 7 hearing in Kingman. Deputy County Attorney Jacob Cote told the court that Marshall was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over at 1882 Lakeside Drive on Aug. 5. He said a search of Marshall’s fanny pack netted seizure of 150 Xanax pills and about $2,000 in cash. BULLHEAD CITY – A drug dealing ex-con from Bullhead City is returning to the Arizona Department of Corrections. A 5.5-year prison term was ordered Wednesday for Ty Wharton, 27. Wharton pleaded guilty to sale of narcotic drugs for an April transaction involving heroin at 660 Highway 95 in Bullhead City. Defense attorney Ken Beane said drug addiction fueled his client’s criminal behavior and that Wharton wants to get clean. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert said that Wharton lacked interest in rehabilitation until threatened with extended incarceration. Southwest Behavioral & Health Services (SB&H), has received an $849,915 grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The funds will be used for a Comprehensive Opioid Recovery Center (CORC) with an Integrated Systems Approach that will serve individuals in Mohave County, Arizona. The SAMHSA grant will enable SB&H to enhance capacity and service options for Mohave County’s uninsured and underinsured populations directly addressing the county’s worsening opioid epidemic.
