BHC woman charged with stabbing boyfriend

BULLHEAD CITY – A Bullhead City woman reportedly stabbed her boyfriend in the neck during a domestic quarrel. Officers responded to the incident in the 200 block of Phyllis Drive at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said arriving officers encountered Shelby Lynn Garoutte, 27, who was outside and armed with two knives. “Garoutte refused to drop her weapons and listen to police commands,” Fromelt said. “An officer deployed a less than lethal munition to gain compliance.” Garoutte was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation and clearance before she was booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention…

Leander charged in sex crime

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A young Lake Havasu City man is accused of plying a teenager with alcohol and raping her in a shed last Nov. Police report the Jan. 6 arrest of 20-year-old Michael Leander for sexual assault and sexual conduct with a minor. An investigation began after the victim disclosed to her father that she had been raped. She subsequently told police she became drunk while playing the “buzzed” drinking game and that Leander took advantage of her. Human remains found

GOLDEN VALLEY – Human remains have been located in a remote area in Golden Valley. An investigation has been initiated by the Mohave County Sheriff’s office. Spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said a citizen reported finding the remains Sunday while walking dogs in the area of N. Dewey Road and W. Agua Fria Drive. No further details were provided. Arsons spark reward offer

KINGMAN – Detectives with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, Kingman Police Department and investigators with the Kingman Fire Department, are actively investigating several residential arsons that have occurred in the Kingman area over the past couple of months. The fires have occurred at vacant residences and no one has been injured during the fires. Guilty plea in heroin transport case

KINGMAN – A Denver, Colorado man hauling dope through north Mohave County has entered a plea agreement that could land him in the Arizona Department of Corrections. Sergio Amezquita-Aceves, 32, pleaded guilty to transportation of narcotic drugs for sale during a Jan. 6 hearing in Kingman. Deputy county attorney Leah Nelson said Amezquita-Aceves was pulled over for a window traffic infraction last Sept. on Interstate 15, about 8 miles south of the Utah border.
