Kingman Republican Women swear in new officers at luncheon

At a Saturday, Dec. 14 meeting of the Kingman Republican Women, new officers were installed by Mohave County District 4 Supervisor Jean Bishop at Dam Bar Steak House. Nancy Moschcau was installed as new President; Kim Casey as Second Vice-President; Barbara Carpenter as Secretary; and Penny Holden as Treasurer. Newly installed First Vice-President Cindy Landa Cox was not able to attend the meeting. Senate candidate Daniel McCarthy was the guest speaker. McCarthy spoke about mistakes the party has made and his intention to be a better public servant than his peers. – Michael Morrison

4-H members play Santa’s elves for a day

Members of the Mohave County 4-H Interstate Exchange Club played Santa’s elves recently to help with the Senior Angel Tree at the Kingman City Complex and also the Children Angel Tree at Kingman Regional Medical Center. The 4-H Exchange Club members and leaders spent an afternoon shopping to fulfill the wishes and needs of 25 seniors and children, which included three new bicycles and lots of shoes and toys. The shopping spree was made possible by a donation from Dwayne Patterson, Re/Max Prestige Property Realty.

It started decades ago with names being scribbled on small pieces of paper, inserted into empty capsules and then deposited into a container from which the lucky few would be drawn, often by a youngster chosen from the crowd in the State Capitol Annex Building.
