COVID-19 Update: 31 new cases, three deaths

MOHAVE COUNTY – Late Tuesday afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of 31 new COVID-19 confirmed cases and three deaths, all three previously reported.  Two are 80-89 and one is 90+. Of the 31 new cases, 21 are in the Bullhead City service area. Thirteen of those cases are recovering at home and are linked to another case. Ft. Mohave man charged in wife’s shooting death

FT. MOHAVE – A Fort Mohave man has been arrested in the shooting death of his wife. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies responded just before 11:00 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 1600 block of E. Gran Circulo in Fort Mohave. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said the body of the 49-year-old victim was found inside the home. Angela Olejniczak was found to have multiple gunshot wounds and was declared deceased at the scene,” Mortensen said. Man drowns despite life-saving efforts

LAKE MEAD – The National Park Service reports the death of a male adult who was swimming at Lake Mead. Spokeswoman Carrie Vanover said the man was swimming after a raft when he slipped under the water at Boulder Beach late Tuesday afternoon. Vanover said bystanders pulled the man out of the water. She said CPR efforts failed and the man was pronounced dead. The name of the victim is withheld pending notification of kin. Cause of death will be determined by the Clark County Coroner’s office. Grand Canyon, AZ– Grand Canyon National Park rangers responded to multiple heat related search and rescue incidents this past weekend. Hikers and backpackers attempting hikes in the inner canyon are strongly encouraged to be prepared for excessively hot temperatures and to understand their own physical limitations in order to prevent emergency situations for themselves and responders. On Saturday, June 20, Phantom Ranch rangers responded to a river runner experiencing heat illness and fatigue on a Colorado River trip.
