MOHAVE COUNTY – A student from Colorado City successfully defended his 2023 Mohave County spelling bee championship Friday.  Masada Charter school eighth grader Ethan Knudson won in the 11th round with a correct spelling of “nitrate.” Knudson qualified for the March 16 spelling bee in Phoenix. Mohave County School Superintendent Mike File, retiring this year after 40 years of county bee involvement,  said Knudson finished eighth at state last spring. Jasmine Matthews of Kingman has received the following degree from The University of Alabama: Master of Science. UA awarded over 2,000 degrees during its fall commencement ceremonies. A recent economic analysis found that a degree from The University of Alabama can pay more over time than investments in United States stock market indexes. The University provides numerous opportunities for service and growth to help prepare future generations through its educational, cultural and social experiences.

MOHAVE COUNTY – A Veterans Resource Fair will be held in both Kingman, Bullhead City and Parker in March. The Bullhead City event will be held at the Bullhead City Chamber of Commerce, 1252 Hwy. 95, on Friday, March 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Kingman event will be held the Mohave County Fairgrounds, 2600 Fairgrounds Blvd., on Friday, May 3, also from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Parker event will be hel at the VFW Post 7061, 516 S. ASSE International Student Exchange Programs (ASSE), a Non-Profit, Public Benefit Organization, is inviting local families to discover the many rewards of hosting a foreign exchange student. ASSE students come from more than 50 countries worldwide: France, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Ukraine, Japan, Australia, to name a few.
