MCC students inducted into new honor society geared toward biology

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College has a new honor society geared toward biology students, Beta Beta Beta-Epsilon Chi Gamma, also known as TriBeta. Fourteen students were celebrated during the inaugural induction ceremony among family, friends and MCC employees. The honor society is for undergraduate students dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research. Oktoberfest brews discussed at Rotary

At Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s March 22 meeting’s Jesh Liewer of Black Bridge Brewery (shown with Rotarian Becky Fawson) addressed the club on the process of how to brew beer. Jesh explained that the hops are the differentiator in the flavors of beer. The process takes weeks and sugar is added to carbonate or strengthen the beer. Jesh explained the differences between pilsners, IPAs, pales, stouts, and porters. As per tradition, Black Bridge Brewery will be brewing Oktoberfest beer for Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s Oktoberfest this fall.

Desert rescue ends well

LAKE HAVASU CITY – At approximately 12:01 pm on Tuesday, March 26, the Lake Havasu City Fire Department was dispatched to a desert rescue at Sara Park.  A male hiker was reported to be experiencing a heat-related injury and in need of assistance. Two Engine Companies, Two Rescue side-by-sides, an ambulance, and a Battalion Chief responded to Sara Park and were able to locate the injured person within 36 minutes. MOHAVE COUNTY – Twenty-Six Mohave Community College students from the Bullhead Campus have been inducted to the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society-Alpha Chi Psi chapter during an induction ceremony with friends and family. The ceremony’s guest speaker was Grace Hecht from Make Bullhead Better and former MCC alumna. The ceremony also honored graduating members.  Phi Theta Kappa’s mission is to recognize and encourage scholarships among two-year college students by providing an opportunity for leadership, service, and development.
