World Trade Center attack remembered on anniversary

We’ve reached the 23rd anniversary of use of aircraft by terrorists to bring down the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001. Two commercial jet planes struck the towers, causing their collapse and the destruction of four other WTC buildings. Third Annual Tomato Quest to be held at Locomotive Park

KINGMAN – The Mohave County Cooperative Extension Office will hold a Tomato Quest harvest festival in downtown Kingman. The event will be Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Locomotive Park, 310 W. Beale St.

The community is invited to attend the festival with will include locally grown tomatoes and information on growing them. There will be contests, giveaways, local vendors, and kids’ games to make an afternoon the entire family can enjoy.

Bullhead City Animal Shelter offers selection of dogs for adoption

BULLHEAD CITY —Staff at the Bullhead City Animal Shelter are working to find forever homes for the 34 dogs currently housed there.

“We have more dogs than the building is designed to hold,” said Bullhead City Animal Shelter Manager Alyson Harms. “The bright side is if you’re looking for a specific companion, we’ve got a lot to choose from. The downside is they all need homes.”

Best Friends Animal Society has stepped up to help, providing a grant to the City to cover the cost of adoptions for 30 dogs.
