Bighorn fans pack Firebird Field for first home win of inaugural season

MOHAVE COUNTY – It was a packed house as Mohave Community College Men’s and Women’s Soccer took to Firebird Field in Bullhead City for the first-ever home games of the inaugural season on Friday, Aug. 30. Athletic Director and Men’s Head Coach Camilo Valencia says the electric atmosphere provided by the crowd Friday night helped to motivate his squad to a 5-0 victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College.

Picnic for Paws fundraiser set

KINGMAN – Friends of Mohave County Animal Shelter will host a Picnic for Paws in the Park fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 20. The event will be held at Metcalfe Park beginning at 5 p.m. with Yappy Hour. Tickets are $30 each and include a deluxe picnic dinner by Siren’s Café, and live music by Goodheart. All proceeds will benefit the homeless animals of Mohave County.

Bring a blanket or chairs for a wonderful evening under the starts. There will be raffle and an auction.

LWHS Renaissance Fair Helps the Students Shine

KINGMAN – Fairies, sword fights, Shakespeare and baked treats.

Lee Williams High School stagecraft students, with the leadership of their teacher, Paula Pickett, put on an inaugural ‘Lee Ol Renaissance Faire’ Friday.

More than 50 students, teachers, parents and other spectators set up camp in the school’s grassy common area adjacent to the cafeteria to show off months of building sets and rehearsing acts as part of a fundraiser for the drama and stagecraft classes.
