MCC Kingman Campus honor society inducts over 30 students

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society – Alpha Chi Omega chapter on the Kingman Campus hosted its induction ceremony Thursday for new members for Fall 2024.

Get into the spirit of the season with MCC’s holiday-themed classes

MOHAVE COUNTY – MCC Community Education is bringing back, and adding to, its long list of holiday offerings for adults and kids to enjoy in the coming months. From decorating cookie plates for Santa to baking treats for the whole family, the College provides plenty of opportunities to get you into the holiday spirit. 

Cookies for Santa will see participants create a personalized cookie plate for Santa, with the plate and paints provided by MCC. Participants need only bring their imagination. Once the plate is fired, come pick up your custom plate and keep it as a family keepsake.

ERACE holds Meadview cleanup

MEADVIEW – Saturday, November 2, Mohave County ERACE teamed up with local Meadview residents a free community trash day. The event entailed 11 dumpsters ranging from 40 yards to 60 yards in size, all available to take in unwanted household items. Over 100 vehicles contributed trash and one dumpster was completely filled with tires (rims previously removed).  Household appliances were additionally disposed, and scrap metal was reserved for recycling.  

Mohave County ERACE further sponsored transport of the waste to the Cerbat Sanitary Landfill, where the operation was completed.

New Cancer Care Resource hosts first charity fashion show

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Cancer Care Resource launched their first New Beginnings Fashion Show fundraiser of the year last week. The cancer awareness nonprofit’s fashion show took place on Wednesday, November 13 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the London Bridge Convention Center.  

Formally affiliated with the Havasu Community Health Foundation, Cancer Care Resource now operates under the Heidi Edwards Cooking for Cancer Foundation. The Cooking for Cancer foundation was founded by Edwards, a cancer patient who came up with the unique idea to start a cancer nonprofit using cuisine themed fundraisers.

MCC expands to add a new Phlebotomy course to its non-credit academic division – registration ends soon  

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College is adding Phlebotomy to its Community Education division’s list of non-credit classes. This means students have the option of learning Phlebotomy from both the college credit and non-credit academic divisions.

Many people may not realize that MCC offers credit and non-credit classes. What’s the difference between credit classes and non-credit classes? Simply put:

* Non-credit classes are generally short-term, with no grades and the student does not earn a college degree upon completion.

Leaving the 99 to find the one: Local Kingman church visits Las Vegas homeless

KINGMAN — The Kingman Kingdom of God (KOG) Church travels 100 miles weekly to tend to North Las Vegas’s homeless population. On Friday, November 15, the Kingman KOG church welcomed their youth group to join the event for the first time. “I love that almost all of my youth came. It shows their spirit for service,” admits Tim McCoy, youth group leader for the KOG church. Although the middle and high school-aged children were informed but a day before the event, only two youth group members could not join.

The Kingman KOG church is invited into the Las Vegas Restoration and Recovering Center weekly to set up tables.
