KINGMAN – Management of the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District (NACFD) is transitioning to the management team of City of Kingman Fire Department Chief Jake Rhoades. An intergovernmental agreement detailing the arrangement was approved August 6 by the Kingman Council, following previous approval of the NACFD governing board. Mohave Community College Student Christina Henslee was just selected as a 2019 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar. Henslee is one of just 207 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society members across America named as a Promise Scholar and she will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The MCC science major received the award because of her academic excellence and campus leadership roles.  She is president of the Bullhead City campus Student Activities Council and Vice President of the campus PTK Honor Society. MOHAVE COUNTY – District 4 Mohave County Supervisor Jean Bishop seeks re-election next year to serve one more term before ending well more than three decades of public service. Bishop began working as a sheriff’s deputy in 1986 before transitioning to Constable, then supervisor since June 2014. More than a half dozen citizens condemned a Planning and Zoning Commission member Monday for what they called “xenophobic and racist’’ social media posts about illegal immigration. Capital One announced a massive data breach on Monday, July 29, reporting a hacker accessed the information of over 100 million Americans who have applied for credit cards, since 2005, which contained consumers’ personal information including names, addresses, zip codes, email addresses, phone numbers and dates of birth. Capital One has said it has since fixed the vulnerability in its system and apprehended the hacker responsible for the breach.
