FORT MOHAVE  – More than 1,600 Mohave Electric Cooperative members experienced two separate power outages Tuesday morning, Dec. 31. MEC became aware of the first outage at 4:20 a.m. caused by a vehicle collision with a utility pole, causing an outage for 68 members. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Department reported the driver called in the accident and appeared to be uninjured. MEC became aware of a second outage at 8:55 a.m. that affected over 1,600 members. MOHAVE COUNTY – Governing board seats will be up for grabs in various school districts in Mohave County in non-partisan election contests to be conducted on November 3. Prospective candidates can pick up information packets at the Mohave County School Superintendent’s Office in Kingman beginning on January 2. Eight citizens have formally declared intent to qualify candidacy to seek the position being vacated when incumbent Gary Watson retires at the end of this year.
