Kingman businesses fund local COVID-19 study

KINGMAN – Thanks to generous donations from locally-owned businesses― Preston Investments and Peterson Burge Enterprises― along with individual donations from community members, Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) will conduct a local epidemiologic study of COVID-19 later this summer.  The study will involve several thousand community members who volunteer to participate in the effort. They will be given free antibody testing to determine if they previously had COVID-19. They will also be asked to complete a detailed questionnaire about their exposure history. MEC outage due to auto crash

BULLHEAD CITY – After a full day of work in summer temperatures reaching above 110 degrees, MEC crews responded to a vehicle contacting a pole incident. The call came from emergency dispatchers just after 2:30 p.m.; the vehicle erupted in fire, catching a utility pole and nearby brush on fire at the NW corner of Hwy 95 and Boundary Cone Road in Mohave Valley. For the safety of the responding fire crews MEC performed circuit switching to isolate the section of line in the incident area. KRMC renames Cancer Center to honor Kingman businessman

In recognition of a generous donation from a former Kingman resident and business owner, Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) has renamed its Cancer Center. It is now called the W L Nugent Cancer Center, named for William (Bill) Nugent. Bill Nugent has donated accrued equity in a 60,000 sq. ft. building and associated land at 2110 Airway Avenue to Kingman Regional Medical Center. Nugent was a longtime resident of Kingman who contributed greatly to our community.  He graduated in 1970 with a degree from Cal Western University in San Diego and embarked on a career as a general contractor and real estate developer in…

Pegasus/Hive project: Late and unknown

KINGMAN – Very little appears to have happened where it was announced to the world that a multi-billion dollar renewable energy data storage center would be developed about 12 miles south of Kingman. The Pegasus Group Holdings and Plus Minus Power partnership said in early June 2019 that the $3 billion “Hive” would be operating within six months. A $5 billion second phase project  `Firefly” was announced last December. Little if any progress is evident where the high-tech projects are planned near the Griffith Energy facility off of Interstate 40.
