Havasu approves $195 million spending plan

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Tentative adoption of a $195-million budget occurred during the June 8 Lake Havasu City Council meeting. The spending plan can be adjusted but cannot be increased prior to final adoption expected June 22. Mayor Cal Sheehy said the budget is fiscally responsible and funds the realm of services citizens expect. He also noted it holds the property tax levy in place, though it will generate more revenue due to increased assessment within the city limits. Tax reform town hall planned

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County officials continue to measure public support for a proposal to reduce the primary property tax, but collect roughly the same amount of revenue by increasing the sales tax by one quarter cent. Supervisors Jean Bishop and Travis Lingenfelter invite interested citizens to a Wednesday town hall that will provide information and opportunity to pose questions. KINGMAN – Mohave Community College (MCC) and the Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce (KACC) are going to be roommates. They’re moving in together in downtown Kingman and will share space inside the former fitness facility at 309 E. Beale St. The college purchased and remodeled the 10,000 sq. ft. building for about $1.6 million. BULLHEAD CITY – The JAVC and VFW District #8 are collaborating to bring a Veterans Resource Fair to Bullhead City on Friday June 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a 9:00 a.m. registration time. The Fair will be held at the Suddenlink Community Center gymnasium, 2380 Suddenlink Way. The Bullhead City Transit stops at the Suddenlink Center at 22 minutes after the hour. Transportation requests are to be made through info@javc.org by Tuesday, June 22. They now have a shuttle available for pick-ups.  There are currently no COVID-19 restrictions at the Center but wearing a mask will not be discouraged….
