MOHAVE COUNTY – A long awaited shift in the process of submitting applications for county permits is now up and running. County residents can now submit applications electronically, and receive communication back from the county electronically, as well. This will resolve any need to come directly into the county offices to submit applications and plans. Online permitting is a major benefit to county residents, especially those in more rural areas not near a county office. LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA, AZ and NV – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Park Service (NPS) announce the availability of a proposed commercial air tour management voluntary agreement for Lake Mead National Recreation Area. This agreement would guide the FAA and NPS in the management of commercial air tours over the park. The proposed voluntary agreement addresses many unique challenges while improving the condition of park resources and ensuring safe air tour operations. MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County Manager Sam Elters is turning back the clock for a short-term solution to the pending exit of Development Services Director Tim Walsh. Elters said Nic Hont has agreed to come out of retirement to work his old job on an interim basis. Hont will start on April 15 and enjoy an overlapping three day transition with Walsh whose final day with the county will be April 17. Walsh starts his new job as Kingman City Manager on April 22. KINGMAN – The State Transportation Board has awarded a $106 million construction project to build a free-flowing traffic interchange for Interstate 40 and US 93 in Kingman. With the contract awarded to Fisher Sand & Gravel Co. during the board’s meeting on Friday, March 15, construction is expected to begin this summer and take two and a half years. The interchange in west Kingman is designed to reduce congestion on the highly traveled route between Phoenix and Las Vegas while improving safety, travel times and reliability. KINGMAN – On Tuesday, March 12 the Hospital District One of Mohave County met. The meeting was rescheduled from the regularly scheduled meeting date of March 5. In a 3-2 vote, Chair Penny Holden retained her seat with board members Dan Valentine and Dr. Carol Newmyer voting to remove her as chair. The motion was made by Newmyer and seconded by Valentine.
