Treasurer’s office to open satellite offices

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County Treasurer Cindy Landa Cox has announced the dates, addresses, and office hours for the Bullhead and Lake Havasu Cities’ temporary satellite offices. The temporary satellite offices will be open from Monday, October 28, through Friday, November 1 in Bullhead City at Mohave Electric Cooperative, 928 Hancock Road; and in Lake Havasu City at the Mohave County Complex, 2001 College Dr. Satellite office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with closure each day from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for lunch. LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Lake Havasu City Fire Department has recognized the Lake Havasu Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) on the installation of their 500th residential Knox box. The residential Knox box is a secure system that offers emergency access to a home for residents that are unable to open the door for responders. The availability of emergency access provides peace of mind and prevents the unnecessary damage that occurs when forcible entry is made. Outages affect members in Fort Mohave, Bullhead City, Mohave Valley

BULLHEAD CITY – Storm-related outages affected over 5,700 Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) members in Bullhead City, Fort Mohave, and Mohave Valley Monday afternoon, Sept. 23. MEC became aware of the first of the outages at 1:41 p.m. and crews immediately responded. Power to over 1,600 members was restored by 2:44 p.m. and to approximately 400 more at 3:26 p.m. As storms and high wind continued to impact the area, a probable microburst caused a pole to fall, and a power outage for an additional 3,700 members in Fort Mohave and Mohave Valley at 4:08 p.m. Power was restored safely to…

Former NACFD chief Eder’s charges set aside

KINGMAN – The former chief of a north Kingman-based fire district has essentially erased his trial conviction involving a misdemeanor conflict of interest charge. Wayne Ludwig Eder, 56, was placed on unsupervised probation during a May 10 sentencing hearing before Mohave County Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert. Eder’s probation ended about 15 minutes later when he paid a $150 fine. Judge Lambert in early August set aside, or dismissed, the conviction and allegations involved. Further, Judge Lambert fully restored Eder’s constitutional rights, including his rights to vote, hold office and possess firearms.

‘Guardian’ installed in downtown Kingman

The proud papa of Kingman’s newest sculpture dubbed “The Guardian” by Jim Rowe (pictured) was delivered in predawn hours last Sunday morning. Roe, a southern California native and Arizona investor has bought numerous properties in old Kingman and was motivated to bring attention to the rehab of the 200 block of Topeka. Merchants set to roll back quarter-cent sales tax

MOHAVE COUNTY – Thousands of merchants throughout Mohave County will be rolling back the Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) at the end of the year. A 20-year quarter-cent sales tax increase approved by the Board of Supervisors (BOS) in 1999 will sunset on December 31 of this year. Financial Services Director Coral Loyd said the quarter-cent sales tax dedicated to capital improvement projects generated $119.2-million in the first 19.5-year period through the end of June.
