MOHAVE COUNTY – Department of Public Health Director Denise Burley spoke of rising coronavirus numbers Monday, the same day that Mohave County reported more than 900 new cases were documented in a three-day period tracing back to Friday afternoon. “Cases are up by 15% over last week from the previous week,” Burley told county supervisors during the Board meeting in Kingman. MOHAVE COUNTY – Dist. 1 Sup. Travis Lingenfelter made an impact during his first meeting as a member of the Mohave County Board of Supervisors. Lingenfelter successfully steered the Board in the direction of possible adoption of a resolution declaring Mohave to be a Constitutional Sanctuary among Arizona counties. Contemplation of a resolution arises from the belief of some that multiple levels of government have overreached and violated the rights of citizens and free enterprise during the nine-month long coronavirus pandemic. Two-day store closure for cleansing campaign KINGMAN – An undisclosed issue has resulted in the temporary closure of what is perhaps the most heavily trafficked retail store in Kingman. The Walmart supercenter at 3396 Stockton Hill Road closed its doors at 2:00 p.m. Monday. “Walmart has chosen to do this to allow extra time for a third-party specialist to further sanitize the store and will also give associates additional time to restock shelves and prepare the store to once again serve the community during this time,” a news release said. MOHAVE COUNTY – Workforce transition to the four-story Mohave County courthouse addition in downtown Kingman was originally targeted before Christmas 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic. The timetable that shifted to January has been pushed further into the New Year. “Our move-in date is now scheduled to be the 13th, 14th and 15th of February,” said county facilities manager John Mieding. “We’ve had some unforeseen construction issues occur. Buster Johnson will take the Chairman’s gavel from Jean Bishop when Mohave County Supervisors conduct their first board meeting of the New Year. Supervisors will once again take up a resolution proposing that Mohave declare itself a sanctuary Constitutional county. The board will also conduct its customary COVID-19 management session at the end of the meeting at the County Administration building at 700 W. Beale St. in downtown Kingman. MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College’s Substance Abuse Counseling program recently received accreditation by the National Addiction Studies Accreditation Commission (NASAC).  MCC is one of only 29 colleges in the country to have earned this specialized accreditation. NASAC is an accreditation organization for higher education addiction studies programs.
