WIKIEUP – The Wikieup Trading Post has been destroyed. The commercial structure along U.S. 93 that included a jewelry store and a convenience market was gutted by fire overnight. MOHAVE COUNTY – Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has extended the timeline for filling the vacancy created by last month’s resignation of Virlynn Tinnell as Clerk of Mohave County Superior Court. Presiding Judge Charles Gurtler promoted deputy director Christina Spurlock to serve as interim Clerk until the Governor can fill the post by appointment. Applications were initially required by May 17 but the deadline for making application has been extended to June 4. Governor spokesman C.J. Karamargin did not disclose how many people applied but said that the extension aimed to ensure the ”best pool of applicants” can be reviewed. Spurlock…
Company failed to deliver promised Internet speeds PHOENIX – Attorney General Mark Brnovich, along with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and a coalition of law enforcement agencies from five other states, filed a lawsuit against Frontier Communications (Frontier), alleging that the company did not provide many consumers with internet service at the speeds it promised and charged many for more expensive and higher-speed service than Frontier actually provided. The lawsuit alleges that Frontier advertised and sold internet service in several plans, or tiers, based on download speed. MOHAVE COUNTY – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has conveyed approximately 141 acres of public land located adjacent to the Colorado City Airport to the Town of Colorado City, for airport use. The move supports compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airport safety and design standards, as portions of the airport safety and fly-over zones are located on the conveyed lands.
