Call for Arguments for primary election ballot propositions; deadline is May 6

KINGMAN – Due to the City of Kingman remaining closed to the public until May 11, , individuals must call the City of Kingman Clerk’s Office at (928) 753-8102, to schedule an appointment in regard to submitting any arguments on any upcoming ballot propositions.

The City of Kingman will have two separate propositions on the August 4, primary election ballot: Proposition 416, “A resolution proposing a permanent adjustment to the state-imposed expenditure base for the City of Kingman,” and Proposition 417, “An ordinance proposing a 4-year mayor term for the City of Kingman.” Individuals may file arguments for or against the proposed Permanent Base Adjustment and proposed 4-Year Mayor Term, which will be published in an election publicity pamphlet. The last day to file arguments is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at the City of Kingman Clerk’s Office, City Hall, 310 N. 4th Street, Kingman, AZ 86401.

Arguments in regard to the Permanent Base Adjustment must include the heading: “Argument FOR Permanent Base Adjustment” or “Argument AGAINST Permanent Base Adjustment.” Arguments in regard to the 4-Year Mayor Term must include the heading: “Argument FOR 4-Year Mayor Term” or “Argument AGAINST 4-Year Mayor Term.” Arguments are limited to 300 words in length (not including the required heading or signature block) and must contain the sworn statement of each person sponsoring it. Each signature appearing with the argument must include the following statement above the signature: I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing information is true and correct, and I am the sponsor of this argument advocating or opposing this proposition. If the argument is sponsored by an organization, it must contain the sworn statement of two executive officers of the organization. If the argument is sponsored by a political committee, it must contain the sworn statement of the committee’s chairman or treasurer. The argument must include a signature block. The address and phone number for each signer must be included on the argument but will not be printed in the publicity pamphlet. Arguments must be submitted with an original signature. An electronic version of the argument must also be concurrently presented to the City Clerk at ameredith@cityofkingman.gov. Submission of the electronic document alone does not constitute the official submission of an argument. Arguments not meeting the specifications outlined above will be returned to the submitting party. If the due date has not yet passed, the argument may be re-submitted. For more information, please contact the City of Kingman Clerk’s Office at (928) 753-8335.
