BLM announces Bullfrog Day-Use Recreation Area available for recreation access

The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Lake Havasu Field Office has completed a four-month construction project to replace a failing retaining wall at Bullfrog Day-Use Recreation Area. The recreation area will be available for public use starting Friday, April 5.

The infrastructure improvement project addressed structural concerns with the retaining wall, which was built in 1968 and was failing. The new retaining wall provides improved soil stabilization, safety, and beach and river access at the site.

“Improvements like these are part of an on-going effort to modernize our infrastructure and enhance recreational opportunities along the river,” said Samantha Carrasco, Acting Lake Havasu Field Manager. “We are excited to complete this rejuvenation project to create a safer and improved recreation experience for visitors.”

Bullfrog Day Use Area is situated along the California side of the lower Colorado River within the Parker Strip Recreation Area. The site provides river access, a swimming beach, shaded picnic areas and restroom facilities. The site is managed by the BLM Arizona Lake Havasu Field Office. For information about the site, please call the Lake Havasu Field Office at 928-505-1200.
