Havasu celebrates Marine Corp birthday

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu’s Marine Corps League will be bringing back the Marine Corps Birthday Ball.  The Lake Havasu Marine Corps League is a volunteer organization with roughly 160 veterans from Armed Forces branches. The many events that the group puts together are usually fundraisers in an effort to develop goodwill in the community. The group provides assistance to veterans along with their families who may be in need.  The Marine Corps League is also partnered with Be Connected, a service that provides veterans assistance with education, housing, employment, physical health and much more. Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club presented Linda Miller with the club’s November Citizen of the Month award at its November 3rd meeting. Among her community contributions, Miller has served with Girl Scouts as a Brownie through Cadette troop leader and as director of the Arizona Cactus-Pine Girl Scout Council. She has also served on most Soroptimist board positions, volunteers at Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce, Kingman Art Center, Beale Street Theater, Rotary and is a member of Gamma Omega Sorority. Veterans parade returns to Havasu

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu’s Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is bringing the Veterans Day Parade back for the Veterans Day holiday. The VFW is a nonprofit organization made up of active veterans and reserve forces.  VFW was created to provide veterans with VA claims, separation benefits, mental wellness, financial grants, and student veteran support.  Veterans Day is a federal holiday that honors military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. The celebration was created for honorable discharges and accompanies other holidays such as Remembrance Day and Armistice Day which are celebrated in other countries. Lake Mead NRA is transitioning to a cashless fee system in 2024 

BOULDER CITY, Nev.–Beginning January 1, 2024, Lake Mead National Recreation Area will transition to a cashless fee collection system, accepting only electronic card payments for entrance, lake use, and campground fees. Entrance stations will continue to sell passes but will no longer accept cash for payment.  The transition to cashless fee collection will align this park with twenty-nine other National Park Service locations, such as Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, and the Petrified Forest. The new process will also enable more efficient, cost-effective operations.  Advance campground reservations, as well as first-come, first-served sites, will be available online only through recreation.gov.
