Hiker fatality along Bright Angel Trail in Grand Canyon National Park

GRAND CANYON – On November 16 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center was alerted of an emergency by a personal locator beacon on the Bright Angel Trail, approximately 1.5 miles north of Havasupai Gardens. A hiker was reported unresponsive, and a rescuer immediately responded on foot from Havasupai Gardens. Additional National Park Service (NPS) search and rescue personnel responded via helicopter. Upon arrival, rangers pronounced the hiker deceased. ADOT Reminder: No closures over Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 22-27)

If you are among the many drivers who will be taking to the highway over Thanksgiving weekend, the Arizona Department of Transportation is working to ease the travel stress. ADOT and its contractors will not schedule any full construction or maintenance closures on state highways, including Phoenix-area freeways, from Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 22, to Monday morning, Nov. 27, to help limit impacts on holiday travel. Medusa Farms helping to feed those in need

Medusa Farms has partnered with the Kingman Area Food Bank. Together, they have collected more than 1,500 pounds of food for the Kingman community. Medusa Farms will be continuing the food drive until the end of November. “Medusa Farms is more than a local business. PHOENIX — The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) is asking hunters to continue doing their part to help keep Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) at bay. CWD is a fatal wildlife disease that affects the nervous system of deer and elk.  All successful deer and elk hunters are encouraged to bring the head of their harvested animal — especially bucks and bulls — to any department office statewide between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
