Vaughan trial underway

KINGMAN – Trial began Monday for a Kingman man charged with a variety of sex offenses involving two Kingman boys under the age of 15. Defense attorney Greg Pridham told a Mohave County Superior Court jury that Alexander Vaughan is innocent and should be acquitted of child molestation and eight counts of sexual conduct with a minor. Pridham instructed jurors to measure the testimony of the alleged victims to calculate contradictions and inconsistencies in their stories. MOHAVE COUNTY – Ballot counting and Chairman choice were points of contention during Monday’s Mohave County board of supervisors meeting. The board again turned thumbs down on hand counting ballots and elected supervisor Hildy Angius as chairman for next year. Board of Supervisors Clerk Ginny Anderson was asked to read into the record a lengthy letter from Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes before the ballot tabulation debate that stretched more than two hours. Local teachers awarded $2,500 through  Palo Verde Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers program

 In its annual tradition to honor, support and celebrate Arizona’s educators, Fiesta Bowl Charities has granted 500 teachers–including 16 Mohave County teachers–with $2,500 each during the Palo Verde Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers Draft Day presented by SRP, for a total of $1.25 million.  In its eighth year, the Palo Verde Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers program increased its giving by 25% to Arizona K-12 public and charter schoolteachers. The funding will positively impact more than 220,000 students across 73 cities and towns statewide, with 368 different schools receiving grant awards.
