Mohave County offers CERT training

The Mohave County Department of Risk and Emergency Management will be offering new training sessions in March for individuals interested in becoming volunteers under the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program. CERT is a national program under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Citizen Corps Council. Boyea takes plea deal in stabbing case

A stabbing in Bullhead City last spring is being resolved through a plea agreement. Michael Scott Boyea, 35, Bullhead City, pled guilty Wednesday, March 6, to an attempted first degree murder charge. Deputy Mohave County Attorney Jaimye Ashley said the attack occurred after Boyea arrived at a friend’s home at 821 Glen Drive on May 21, 2018. “He walked behind the victim and stabbed the victim in the neck and back approximately five times,” Ashley said. Staybridge Hotel projected scrapped

KINGMAN – Developers have shelved plans to build a new hotel on a near two-acre parcel at Airway Avenue and Hotel Way, just south of a dialysis center. The City said that officials with Kingman Bridge, Inc. have indicated that higher than anticipated construction costs have them pulling the plug on the project. Plans for the Staybridge Hotel submitted with the city proposed a four-story, 80-room project. Some of those involved with the Staybridge were previously instrumental in building the La Quinta Inn which opened in July, 2016.

Motorcycle crash on Oatman Highway

On Monday, March 11, Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies (MSCO) responded to MP 20 on Oatman Hwy., in reference to a vehicle collision. According to an MCSO spokesperson, a motorcycle had collided with a truck and the motorcycle operator was unconscious. It was reported to deputies that the motorcycle was traveling north and failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The motorcycle crossed the center line just as the truck was coming around the curve from the opposite direction and the motorcycle collided with the side of the truck.
