Laughlin Chamber raises more than $15,000 for Cancer Connection

Through the rain and sunshine, over 540 participants walked for the cause! The 6TH Annual Connie Davis 5k Walk & Roll was held on Saturday, March 2nd at the Pyramid Canyon day use area of North Reach Heritage Trails. Despite the morning being met with a mild downpour, over 540 participants registered to support the cause!  Shortly after the walk began, the sun came out from behind the clouds. Participants enjoyed the cool sounds of Billy Kay while eating breakfast before the walk (provided by Cinnabon) and a picnic lunch (provided by the Laughlin Tourism Commission) after the walk. MCC math success rates for students to be showcased at national convention

Mohave Community College has been so successful preparing students to succeed at math, that college representatives have been invited to a national conference to showcase how they did it. The Higher Learning Commission, H.L.C., National Conference is the first week of April in Chicago.  H.L.C. invited MCC to explain the college’s new Transitional Math initiative that led to higher student success rates. On March 14, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the promotion of John Goodwin to the rank of Sergeant. He has demonstrated that he has the knowledge, experience, and tenure to act as a supervisor and lead others. John Goodwin is recognized as a valuable member of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. Alleged cocaine dealer busted; 31 grams of cocaine seized

LAKE HAVASU CITY – An alleged drug dealer has been arrested following seizure of more than 31 grams of cocaine during a March 14 search of his home in Lake Havasu City. Police said they had been investigating suspected drug sales from the home in the 3300 block of Tomahawk Drive, where a search warrant was executed at 6:55 p.m.  “During the search, 31.3 grams of cocaine were located along with numerous items of drug paraphernalia,” said police detective Chris Angus. “As a result of the investigation, 27-year-old Ricardo A. Childers couple sentenced in meth plea agreement

Family members including several grandchildren asked for leniency as a Mohave County Superior Court Judge sent a Bullhead City couple to prison on March 11. 61-year-old Dennis Childers and 52-year-old Julia Childers pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of attempted possession of dangerous drugs for sale for selling methamphetamine from their home on Los Flores Street.
