Pets perish in Havasu house fire

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, a residential fire was reported by a neighbor in the 1700 block of Rainbow Avenue South.

Firefighters reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the residence, with a partial roof collapse in the rear garage.

No one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported among firefighters. Two pets were taken to a veterinary clinic, eight pets were rescued, but two cats and a dog were overcome by the smoke and heat.

Crews remained on scene for an additional three and half hours, conducting overhaul and salvage operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
