Family recovering after crash

To my family and friends I want to thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers through this nightmare that we have been living for the past few days. This past Sunday my sister and her family were driving home to North Carolina from our tia Julia’s funeral. Early Monday morning they were in a terrible accident. Interstate 40 lane closures near Seligman set for April 6 for bridge construction work

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists on Interstate 40 to plan ahead and be prepared to merge into open travel lanes near Seligman at the Interstate 40B overpass bridge (Exit 121) near Seligman while new bridge deck construction is underway. The work will require the following restrictions: Alternating full lane closures of east- and westbound I-40 are scheduled from 5 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6. Detours: Traffic will be diverted to the Exit 121 on- and off-ramps for both east- and westbound traffic. Visitor Fatality at South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park

On Wednesday, April 3, Grand Canyon National Park rangers responded to a call reporting that someone had fallen over the canyon rim east of Yavapai Geology Museum. Responding rangers located the body of a 67 year old male approximately 400 ft below the rim. The park’s helicopter and  technical rescue team were able to recover the body. Yavapai Geology Museum is located on the South Rim in Grand Canyon Village. At this time the area is open and accessible to visitors. Newsom takes plea deal in drug seizure case

Bullhead City residents await sentencing after entering plea agreements resolving their drug cases. Police reportedly seized 19 grams of heroin, five grams of methamphetamine and about 12 grams of marijuana during a search last August of a home that the defendants shared in the 2100 block of Swan Place. Ryan Newsom, 36, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a reduced charge of attempted possession of a narcotic drug for sale. Methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges are dismissed in the plea agreement. Newsom faces a two- to seven-year prison term when sentenced May 7. Barrett guilty in first of two sex offense trials

A Bullhead City man faces at least a century-long prison sentence following convictions at the first of his two sex offense trials. A Mohave County Superior Court jury deliberated 20 minutes Wednesday, April 4, before finding Michael Barrett, 42, guilty on all ten counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Law requires imposition of consecutive prison terms of at least ten years for each conviction at sentencing scheduled May 8. Prosecutor Jacob Cote told jurors that Mohave County Sheriff’s office detectives found 47 images of screen shots of child pornography downloaded from websites on Barrett’s cell phone in October, 2017….
