None injured in mobile home fire

No one was injured when fire damaged a mobile home in Bullhead City Friday. Firefighters responded at 9:00 a.m. to the incident in the 2000 block of Whitewater Drive.  Fire department spokeswoman Lori Viles said arriving crews reported a small amount of smoke venting from the residence. “Firefighters received information that the elderly male who lived at the residence was not at home but, his dog was possibly trapped inside. Engine 761s crew, quickly surveyed the scene, forcing the door open where they found heavy smoke inside of the structure,” Viles said. “Fortunately, this allowed the trapped dog to exit…

Control yourself

When God created us, He did so that we might be unique individuals with specific character traits. None of us were ‘stamped out’ in a cookie cutter fashion, but individually. We each have emotions that can be held in check or released to act in whatever way we please. Some emotions (just to name a few) are joy and happiness, sadness and sorrow, peace and anger, or guilt and freedom from guilt. Have you ever met someone who was living a monotone life? There just didn’t seem to be any up’s or down with them. They were always on an…

Lets appreciate our teachers

Dear Editor, I would take this opportunity now that my four years in high school are up to thank the principal, the kitchen staff, the security guards, and teachers of Lee Williams High School for four years of wonderful memories and experience. I would also like to thank the teachers who were part of the effort to help me graduate from high school. It is common to hear and read in the newspapers about shootings in the high schools, teachers having sexual relationships with students, and abuse or bullying in schools, but hardly anybody takes the time to praise the…

Report litter on state highways with a simple call: Dial 511

Traveler Information Line now takes litter reports Reporting drivers who toss trash out of their vehicles isn’t literally as easy as 1-2-3, but ADOT has made it nearly as simple by allowing drivers to quickly make a report by dialing another simple number: 511. That’s the number to ADOT’s recently enhanced Traveler Information Line, which now features an option to report litterbugs on state highways. Once drivers call 511, they can select the second option for the litter hotline. Callers are then asked to provide a license plate number, type of litter, location and time of day. ADOT uses the…
