During the American Revolution, the legal separation of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain in 1776 actually occurred on July 2, when the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence that had been proposed in June declaring the United States independent from Great Britain’s rule. BOS approves Ft. Mohave zoning exemption

Mohave County Supervisors voted Monday to approve rezoning that will allow a couple to construct a garage on their Fort Mohave property before they build their home on the same site. The Board’s 5-0 vote of approval essentially overturned the denial recommendation of the county planning and zoning commission. Development Services Director Tim Walsh explained that the 1.25 acre parcel south of Sundance Drive and east of Nicholas Drive carries an R-O/A zoning designation requiring that homes be built before auxiliary structures. A Fort Mohave man’s personable testimony provided insight into the world of drug addiction in a trial during which his attorney conceded five convictions while successfully beating a sales rap and mandatory prison. The Mohave County Superior Court jury acquitted Ezequiel Lopez-Cabrera, 32, of possession of a narcotic drug for sale. The jury convicted Lopez-Cabrera of five felony offenses involving possession of heroin and methamphetamine and paraphernalia to ingest both drugs, the charges conceded at the start of the trial. On Wednesday, July 10, the Kingman Mohave Lions Club (KMLC) will be providing visual screenings at the Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) Professional Medical Center at 1739 Beverly Avenue, Kingman, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Kid’s Day Vision Screening was previously held Saturday May 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the KRMC Hualapai campus at which 279 children screened and 21 applications were given out those who tested as needing follow-up testing for needing glasses or other services.
