KINGMAN – The 12th Annual Brews and Brats Oktoberfest, presented by the Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club, will take place on Friday, Oct 4 from 3 to 10 p.m., and on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in downtown Kingman, at Metcalfe Park (corner of Beale and Grandview Sts.). There will be local craft beer, bratwurst, sauerkraut, pretzels, soda, live entertainment, games, vendors, and family fun! Admission is free. Sentence for meth trafficking ‘lenient’ KINGMAN – Mohave County Judge Billy Sipe has imposed 7.5-year prison sentences after reluctantly approving drug case plea agreements that he questioned for its “leniency.” The punishment was stipulated in plea deals convicting two Indiana men of transporting dangerous drugs for sale. Cristian Lopez, 24, was the driver of a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation on Interstate 15 just south of the Utah border in January. MOHAVE VALLEY – A Mohave Valley teenager has been arrested following an investigation revealing he has been hacking into social media accounts of dozens of underage victims. Spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said an investigation began on August 19 when detectives received a report of attempted extortion of a 17-year-old girl. “The victim advised that her social media account had been hacked and the hacker had removed all of her inappropriate photos from her account,” Mortensen said in a news release. “The hacker then contacted the victim and advised the photos would be released unless she gave the hacker access to other…

Application deadline Oct. 31 for $380,000 in grants The Arizona Game and Fish Department is accepting applications for $380,000 in Heritage Fund grants through 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31.  Grant funding will be available through a competitive application process in the following categories: schoolyard habitat, urban wildlife/habitat, public access, and Identification, Inventory, Acquisition, Protection and Management (IIAPM).  In addition to local, county, state, federal and tribal governmental agencies, school districts and public charter schools, the department welcomes non-profit organizations to apply for a Heritage Grant as eligible applicants.
