County courthouse addition ahead of schedule

KINGMAN – Arizona Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Brutinel joined a host of local dignitaries and others for a Tuesday, Dec. 3, tour and progress report for the Mohave County Courthouse addition that is under construction in downtown Kingman. Superior Court Administrator Kip Anderson said it is hoped that the more than $20-million project financed with quarter-cent sales tax revenue will be completed in late 2020. Andy Devine ADA Project Update Closures take effect December 9

KINGMAN – A partial street closure of No. Fourth Street and a full street closure of N. Third St. will be required for the construction of the Andy Devine Avenue ADA Improvements project starting Monday morning, December 9. The southbound lane of N. Fourth St. and N. Third St., from Beale St. to Andy Devine Ave., will be closed to through traffic for approximately two weeks. A detour route around the construction zone will be provided to motorists and pedestrians.  The city urges the public to use caution when driving or walking within the construction zones. Bat Fungus Potentially Detected at Grand Canyon

The fungus Pseudogymnoascus destructans (Pd) has potentially been detected on a fringed myotis (Myotis thysanodes) at Grand Canyon National Park. The bat was captured and sampled for the fungus in April 2019 during routine surveillance by park biologists.  Pd is a fungus that causes white-nose syndrome (WNS), which is a deadly disease for bats and can spread rapidly. The bat did not show any signs of WNS, and the disease has not been detected in bats at Grand Canyon.Laboratory results from Northern Arizona University suggested the fungus may have been present in a single swab sample collected from the bat….
