Murphy enter plea for meth sales

KINGMAN – A drug dealer from Bullhead City will be going to the Arizona Department of Corrections if a Kingman judge approves a plea agreement entered Thursday. Gregory Murphy, 60, pleaded guilty to possession of dangerous drugs for sale in separate cases. Prosecutor David Wayt said officers seized 14 grams of methamphetamine during a November 2016 search of a Bullhead City home in the 2300 block of Mohave Ridge Avenue. Wayt said Murphy admitted buying an ounce of meth two or three times each week, selling most for profit to fund personal use of the rest. Wayt said another two…

Board approves agricultural mitigation project

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County is moving forward with a water conservation project that aims to mitigate agricultural depletion of the Hualapai Valley Groundwater Basin, from which Kingman depends upon for supply. The Board of Supervisors voted Monday to approve an application seeking permission to develop three infiltration basins along the Rattlesnake Wash in north Kingman. Project leader Nick Hont told supervisors that sand and gravel soil composition makes the selected areas ideal for recharge. “This is the optimal location where water will go down fast and will percolate and infiltrate fast,” Hont said. Board Chairman Jean Bishop said the…

I’m not made of money, people

It’s not bad enough that I’m living on a fixed income, all due to my medical problems. What really makes me boiling mad is being forced to pay on property tax and paying on utilities, etc. I’m not rich, I’m lucky to be able to hold my own without having people holding their hand out for more money. As a loyal taxpayer I strongly feel enough is enough, and when am I going to come out on top? Without a bunch of self-serving liberals wanting to bleed me dry. Wake up and smell the roses, plus take off your rose-colored…

BULLHEAD CITY – Registration has begun for the five schools in the Bullhead City Elementary School District (BCESD).  Each K-6 school has a different schedule based upon a student’s last name; Fox Creek Junior High School (grades 7-8) has staggered hours for all. Registration is for new and returning students.  Parents or guardians must bring all necessary paperwork.  For returning students, that includes proof of residency, any missing documents requested by the school, and updated phone and email contact information.  For students new to the district, documents include government-issued birth certificates showing a child’s legal name, parent or guardian identification,…

Second positive COVID-19 reported at county jail

KINGMAN – An inmate of the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility tested positive last Thursday for COVID-19. The inmate, currently housed in medical isolation at the jail, will continue to be monitored and provided treatment as may be necessary. The male inmate, in the 20 to 29 age group, came into jail custody in late June and is a resident of the Kingman service area. “Once again, our regular intake quarantine process has proven to be a successful protocol in preventing the introduction of the coronavirus to our existing inmate population,” said Captain Don Bischoff. “I appreciate the efforts of…
