LAKE HAVASU CITY – Republic Services will be hosting a Free Residential Household Hazardous Waste event on Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to noon. The event will take place at Fire Station Two, located at 2065 N Kiowa Blvd. Please access Fire Station Two by utilizing College Dr., signs will be posted in the vicinity to assist residents with drop off. Havasu murder trial opens

KINGMAN – A Lake Havasu City man shot and killed his unarmed roommate in a rental dispute claims self-defense at his trial that opened Tuesday in Kingman. Legal Defender Jonathan Robinson urged the Mohave County Superior Court jury to determine that Angel Caldera, 23, acted reasonably and was justified when he opened fire and claimed the life of Arnell Bell, 19, on May 17 last year. Leave no person behind

Dear Editor, As a Kingman resident everywhere I go I see men and women, young and old who identify in some way as being Military Veterans. I have come to learn that Mohave County has more veterans than any other County in the U.S. Almost four times as many, numbering over 23 thousand, comprising no less than 13 % of our population. I do a fair amount of reading and research and am always deeply disturbed when I read about the ongoing suicide rate of American Military Veterans, sometimes as high as 22 a day. Police seek runaway teen

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Authorities in Lake Havasu City are asking the public for help in locating a runaway teenager. Local police say 14-year-old Megyn Whitbeck was last seen in Lake Havasu on April 19, in the 1600 block of McCulloch Boulevard S. “Megyn is believed to be traveling on foot and currently there is no clothing description available,” a news release said. “Megyn is approximately 5’07’’, 130 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.” In addition to Lake Havasu City, the runaway has connections to Whitfield County, Georgia and Orange County, California.
