Stage II fire restrictions for BHC area

Mohave County implemented Stage II fire restrictions that began on May 12, 2020, banning all outdoor fires, campfires, and permissible consumer fireworks on private and public lands in the unincorporated areas of the county. The Bullhead City Fire Department has subsequently instituted the Stage II fire burn ban within city limits beginning on this date, May 27, 2020, until a determination of Fire Emergency is rescinded. This decision is based upon current fire weather conditions, which include extremely dry vegetation, heavy fuel loads, wind, and extreme temperatures. Long-term care facilities discussed at BOS special COVID-19 meeting

Bullhead City’s COVID-19 hotpot, the Joshua Springs Senior Living facility, was the focus of much of Thursday’s special Mohave County Board of Supervisors meeting in Kingman. Supervisor Hildy Angius said her constituents have raised lots of questions since it became known that some deaths and at least 18 coronavirus infections trace to the long-term care facility. BLM announces recreational improvements at Burro Creek Campground

KINGMAN – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kingman Field Office will begin a four-month restroom renovation project at Burro Creek Campground on June 6, improving facilities that have been in operation since 1991. The project, which is expected to run through October, will update plumbing, including water, septic and vent lines; and will replace most interior fixtures, such as toilets, stall partitions, sinks, water fountains, access doors and vanity mirrors. External improvements will include replacing the roof and installing solar panels for downward shielded lights, which will enhance nighttime safety. Softball season takes shape

KINGMAN – The Kingman Softball Association (KSA) is taking registration for the summer city league season. City Recreation Coordinator Ryan Fruhwirth said KSA plans to reduce the number of teams but hopes to provide the same number of games in a season that won’t start until late June or early July. Managers can register their teams from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 30 at the Centennial Park crow’s nest where the four main fields are situated, closer to the library. Kayak Fundraiser to benefit BHC Shop with a Cop

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Shop with a Cop, a non-profit organization, has partnered with Desert River Kayak for a kayaking day trip on Sunday, June 28. Participants will be picked up at Rotary Park, 2315 Balboa Drive at the Don Sullivan non-motorized boat launch area at 6:30 a.m. to be shuttled to the launch location at Community Park. The trip lasts about 3 hours and will end at the Don Sullivan non-motorized launch at Rotary Park. COVID-19 update: 17 new cases, two deaths

MOHAVE COUNTY – Late Wednesday afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of seventeen new COVID-19 confirmed positive cases.  Eleven of them are in the Bullhead City service area; three are in the Kingman area; three are in the Lake Havasu City area. There are also two deaths. Some of these cases are linked to a long term care facility.
