DAMA, HVINA water rights apps can be submitted online

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) has  announced that applications can now be submitted online for Grandfathered Rights in the Douglas Active Management Area (DAMA) and Irrigation Authorities in the Hualapai Valley Irrigation Non-Expansion Area (HVINA). For the DAMA, applications for Irrigation Grandfathered Rights, Type 1 Non-Irrigation Rights, and Type 2 Non-Irrigation Rights must be submitted by March 1, 2024. There will be no exceptions to this deadline. For the HVINA, applications should be completed prior to the submission deadline for annual water use reports, which is March 31, 2024. The entire application process for both the…

PARKER – Impairment is suspected in a deadly Labor Day weekend traffic accident in the Colorado River community of Parker. Emergency service personnel responded at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday to the incident in the area of California Ave. and Riverside Dr. Police Chief Mike Bailey says Karan Singh was northbound on California Ave. when the commercial truck he was operating struck three passenger vehicles stopped at a red light at the Riverside Dr. intersection. McDaniel trial underway

KINGMAN – Trial has opened in Kingman for a Mohave Valley man accused of sexual activity with his former girlfriend’s daughter when she was 11 years old. Dennis McDaniel, 67, is charged with two counts of sexual conduct with a minor. Deputy Mohave County Attorney Amanda Claerhout told the Mohave County Superior Court jury that the victim and her mother, Priscilla Murphy, 50, moved in with McDaniel in his Mohave Valley home in 2017 after Murphy broke her leg and had trouble using stairs to reach her apartment unit. Fisherman stabbed by transient

BULLHEAD CITY – A transient reportedly stabbed a man who was fishing the Colorado River in Bullhead City last week. Police Department spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said officers responded to the violence in the area of Riverfront drive and Yale Drive at about 12:40 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31. Police reportedly made contact with the 42-year-old victim who ran to a nearby home asking for help. “The victim had lost a significant amount of blood from a deep stab wound to his left calf,” Fromelt said. “He also had multiple other lacerations on his body.” Fromelt said officers applied a tourniquet…
