Dad sentenced to prison for dumping son’s body

KINGMAN – A Kingman man will go to prison for discarding the body of his teenage son. Jon Imes, 41, pleaded guilty Sept. 13 to abandonment or concealment of a dead body. Terms of the deal require Judge Billy Sipe to impose at least six months, and as many as two years in prison at an Oct. 13 sentencing hearing. BLM seeks comment on wild burros

The Bureau of Land Management has opened a 30-day public comment period for an environmental assessment that analyzes a 10-year plan to remove excess wild burros and implement herd fertility controls in and near the Alamo, Big Sandy and Havasu herd management areas south of Kingman, collectively known as the Three Rivers Complex. Boaters warned of low flow at Glen Canyon Dam

The Bureau of Reclamation on Sept. 14 increased the minimum amount of water that can be released hourly from Glen Canyon Dam. This adjustment, to 6,000 from 5,000 cubic feet per second (cfs), will help boaters better safely navigate the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon below the dam. BULLHEAD CITY – A 10-year prison sentence was imposed Sept. 14 for a Bullhead City teenager who admitted he engaged in sexually motivated touching of young sisters. Judge Doug Camacho also ordered that Landen Ziede, 18, will serve lifetime probation once released from prison. Hike rescued from remote area

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue personnel retrieved an injured hiker in extreme northern Arizona. Crews responded about 6:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 after learning that help was needed on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park. A Search and Rescue Facebook post indicated that five friends were backpacking along the Kanab Creek when a 63-year-old male fell and injured his shoulder.
