Annual candlelight service honors children gone too soon

KINGMAN — In recognition of National Children’s Memorial Day, families and community members are invited to gather for the Annual Candlelight Service on Sunday, December 14 at 6 p.m. at Kingman Christian Church, 2830 Gordon Dr.

Each year, on the second Sunday in December, candles are lit at 7 p.m. around the globe, creating a continuous 24-hour wave of light in remembrance of children who have died, regardless of age or circumstance. The local service will include a touching memorial video, moments of reflection, and a candle-lighting ceremony to honor every child’s enduring light.

Families wishing to include their child in the memorial video are invited to submit a photo, along with their child’s name, birth and passing dates, and a short message of love or remembrance to Pam at grannieaz@outlook.com by December 1.

Attendees are also encouraged to bring a photo of their child to add to the Angel Tree, a cherished symbol of lasting love and remembrance.

Monthly Support Group: “Surviving the Loss of Your Child”

To provide ongoing support beyond the annual service, the group “Surviving the Loss of Your Child” will begin meeting monthly starting Monday, December 1, at Dambar & Steakhouse, 1960 E Andy Devine Ave.

The group offers a safe, compassionate space for parents and families to share, listen, and help one another navigate the many steps of grief together. Meetings will be held at Dambar Steakhouse at 6:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month, offering a warm and welcoming environment for conversation and connection.

“You are not alone. Grief can feel isolating, but when we come together and share our stories, it lightens the load just a little. This community is here to walk beside you.”
